Position Summary
As a
Laborer,you will work with a safety-first team to complete under/above ground utility construction projects. This position can be physically demanding and involves working in a typically outdoor heavy construction environment.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Hand digs or perform other manual labor duties when required or works in trenches and holes places units.
- Lifts and/or transports material or equipment to its proper location on the job site.
- Uses a variety of equipment, and other materials to construct assigned projects.
- Perform construction surveys as required.
- Performs splicing and placing of anodes as required.
- Assembles and installs units related to assigned projects.
- Actively participates in JSA and uses all necessary steps to complete tasks safely and ensures the safety of others working in the area.
- Communicates with all levels of management and crew to effectively present any needs and changes.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Confidence to STOP work immediately when a problem is identified.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
