Job Summary
This role involves providing on-site management and direct oversight of safe, cost-effective construction activities related to the installation of capital assets. The ideal candidate will have experience with combustion turbines, generators, and black start power plant builds. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with fleet-wide construction standards, coordinating site activities from foundation to project closeout, participating in design reviews, conducting inspections, maintaining detailed records, and overseeing contractor work. The position requires a strong focus on safety leadership, quality control documentation, and effective communication with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all phases of site construction are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications.
- Monitor daily activities and track progress towards short- and long-term goals.
- Maintain daily records of construction activities and provide weekly project reports.
- Coordinate construction activities with plant operations to ensure reliability is maintained.
- Champion construction safety through visible leadership and participation in audits and investigations.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and enforce safety measures among contractors.
- Provide input into labor resource strategies and assist with constructability assessments.
- Establish effective relationships with stakeholders through teamwork and open communication.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through adequate inspection and monitoring of work.
- Utilize electronic locating equipment to identify underground gas and electric facilities.
- Assist in managing all phases of construction, material deliveries, and contractor activities from start-up to closeout.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes and project management principles.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for relationship management.
- Proficient in safety regulations and compliance standards (e.g., OSHA).
- Ability to conduct thorough inspections and maintain quality control documentation.
- Strong organizational skills for record keeping and reporting.
- Experience in mentoring team members and facilitating knowledge transfer.
- Previous experience in managing construction projects related to combustion turbines or similar systems.
- Relevant certifications in construction management or safety (e.g., OSHA certification).
- A degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
