Position Summary
We are seeking an organized and dependable Truck Scale Operator to be the first point of contact for our customers and drivers. This role is essential in ensuring accurate weight measurements, proper documentation, and smooth traffic flow in and out of our facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the truck scale to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles.
- Accurately record weights, materials, and customer/vendor details.
- Issue and process scale tickets for transactions.
- Direct drivers to appropriate unloading or loading areas.
- Verify compliance with safety regulations before trucks enter or leave.
- Communicate effectively with yard staff, dispatch, and customers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe scale house.
- Assist with daily recordkeeping and reporting.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Prior experience as a scale operator or in a scrap/recycling environment preferred.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Basic computer skills; knowledge of scale software is a plus.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a safety-first mindset are essential.
- Bi-lingual preferred
Work Environment
- Primarily indoor work in a scale house with frequent interaction with outdoor yard operations.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and weather conditions when directing traffic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
