Description:
JOB SUMMARY: It is the role of the Piping Designer to create facility layouts and process equipment consistent with GasTech design and process standards including all client-specific design requirements. This position uses solid 3D modeling to create detailed designs and generates manufacturing drawings and bills of material. In addition, this role prepares all ancillary relevant design documentation in support of performing the client contract. The responsibility of the position is to be a piping designer that provides a design that is complete, accurate, and understandable, while meeting schedule and cost targets with minimum supervision. All designs and documentation shall meet or exceed client requirements on each assigned project. It is the goal of the position to support GasTech Engineering as the most respected equipment and solutions provider in the market and for the customers we serve.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Provide piping design, layout, and checking for design documents.
•Review engineering drawings and designs.
•Develop bills of materials with respect to piping design.
•Interpret and administer various pipe specifications.
•Interpret/incorporate requirements in the RFQ/Client Specs.
•Able to route all piping and skid assembly parts to ANSI Codes and/or applicable code of construction.
•Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with electrical drawings, piping ISOs, P&ID’s and pressurized equipment.
•Administer the drawing vault and revision controls.
•Support Project Managers in documenting project information.
•Demonstrate consistent attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet project deadlines in all work products.
•Assist in resolving manufacturability issues with our manufacturing team.
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
•An associate’s degree or equivalent experience in an engineering environment is required, as well as a minimum of 5 years of energy industry design experience; 3 years of which must be in oil & gas equipment or facilities, is required.
•Excellent technical proficiency with Mechanical Design using 3D modeling software and technical tools and proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
•The ability to work with minimal supervision and to deliver assignments to meet due dates is required.
•Effective problem-solving skills, while remaining creative and innovative, is required.
•Minimum 3 years of experience in routing all piping, skid, and structure assembly parts to the applicable code including ANSI Codes, ASME Code, AWS welding Standards, and OSHA standards is required.
•The ability to effectively communicate and defend design concepts to both internal and external customers is required.
•Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is preferred.
•CADWorx, NavisWorks , Isogen, or Plant 3d experience is strongly preferred.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
•Our office provides common office equipment such as computers, printers, and copiers for staff to use as needed.
•Routine work and staff interactions within our office environment occur daily.
•The ability to withstand prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer is required.
•Specific vision abilities required by this job include natural or corrected close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
•Long hours on a keyboard require fine dexterity use of hands/fingers for sustained periods of time.
•Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
•Must be able to follow all safety protocols while in our shop area.
