POSITION DUTIES: to design, develop, and analyze process systems and technology for improving efficiencies on existing systems or new processes. Design within the engineering discipline, engineering feasibility studies, economic analysis of projects, basic engineering plans, cost estimates and specifications, evaluation and selection of equipment and materials by analyzing data and measuring results. Develop solutions to engineering problems. Find and implement ideas to improve the profitability of various processing units. Assist in estimating materials, time, and cost of projects, as well as in the evaluation and selection of equipment and materials. Assist in driving plant productivity using established methods along with fundamental engineering principles. Capture data and provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Provide productivity improvements to focus on de-bottlenecking, yield improvements, operating efficiency improvements, and product quality improvements. Responsible for preparing financial analyses of each process improvement to determine the impact on the business and the project priority. Perform a process improvement plan for all Commercial Railcar loadouts. Track and implement product densification plans using existing screw-feed system.
REQUIREMENTS: U.S. bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering (or foreign equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered or as a Materials and/or Ceramic Engineer. Two years must include experience with correlation studies of ceramics final characteristics vs. raw mineral recipes & process conditions, as well as running ceramics trials at pre-production & pre-mass production, and tracking & identifying losses/waste and yield of the mineral used in the production process. Must also have experience troubleshooting studies of quality defects and correlating process parameters vs. productivity & yield %. Experience with Kaolin, pigment recipes and KPI calculations is also required. 5% domestic travel required.
