This position assists Fleet Manager and the other technicians in maintaining and repairing Cooperative vehicles and equipment.
Under the direction of the Fleet Manager:
- Repair flat tires, brakes, and service fuel injection and transmission
- Change oil and grease vehicles and perform complete tune-ups
- Repair and maintain Cooperative mechanical and hydraulic equipment
- Assist in major repairs
- Stock inventory as needed.
- Set up and maintain records
- Keep shop clean and organized
- Observe all safety rules

The AUTO TECHNICIAN I shall be required to perform any other duties assigned in order to fulfill the objectives of the Cooperative.
Member-Consumers: Responds to their inquiries and resolves problems or directs to supervisor or appropriate personnel.
General Public: Maintain good relations in all contacts with the general public.
Abilities and Skills: Should be able to perform duties as listed in the position description. Must be able to weld, braze, and use cutting torches.
Physical Effort: Some strenuous positions in carrying out duties which include bending, standing, Stooping. Frequently moves fifty pounds (oil drums, truck tires) and occasionally moves up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions: Position is located in Cooperative’s garage. Some overtime may be required. Must be able to be available after hours.
After an offer of employment has been made, a physical is required which will include both drug and alcohol testing.
Job Knowledge, Training and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is required. Must be willing to learn technical information and apply it to the carrying out position duties. Automotive trade school certification or one year or more automotive field experience preferred.
Equipment Operated: Jacks, hydraulic lift, pneumatic, diagnostic, and all varieties of hand tools. Must posses a valid Texas driver’s license.
