As a Junior Mechanical Engineer (Member-In-Training/P.Eng.), you will begin your engineering career in an entry-level, developmental role with a focus on learning to apply theoretical knowledge you gained through school and/or previous experience. Your goal will be to engage with Irving Oil’s community of engineers, designers, purchasers, and operations, maintenance and construction professionals, in a collaborative project environment. Your success will be demonstrated in your support of capital improvement initiatives at our operating facilities.

- Apply core engineering principles and your growing understanding of regulations, codes, and industry standards to perform basic and clearly defined engineering tasks with supervision such as preparation of basic plans, calculations, and designs and analysis for capital and expense projects and other engineering requests
- Assist more experienced engineers on complex tasks as an apprentice
- Support the development and continuous improvement of Engineering Services work processes and management system
- Safely perform field activities at our operating facilities and construction sites as necessary to support the development of assigned tasks
- Good communication skills, both oral and written
- Shows ability to work collaboratively and learn from others
- Must be flexible and able to multi-task effectively
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills; should be familiar with common engineering software programs used by their engineering discipline
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Solid knowledge of core engineering concepts, practices, and procedures, with minimum 1-4 years’ experience
- Must be registered as a member-in-training or Professional Engineer with APEGNB, or other Canadian engineering association
