Project Manager (Queensbury, NY, Potsdam, NY, or Watertown, NY)
Job description
Reporting to the Technical Manager, the Project Manager will plan, organize and direct engineering activities to optimize hydropower facilities throughout New York State.
Responsibilities
•Manage the design, specification, cost, construction and commissioning of capital improvement projects.
•Prepares tendering documents, reviews and comments on bid packages to ensure design adequacy and constructability.
•Assist in capital and maintenance budget preparation. Plan and prioritize budgeted work for implementation.
•Provide engineering support to operational staff to improve reliability and performance.
•Manage internal and external engineering resources to develop documents needed for construction and permitting.
•Provide field inspection of all work in place to ensure that work performed is in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications, regulatory requirements and applicable codes.
•Conduct pre-bid and preconstruction meetings with multiple contractors.
•Recommends corrective courses of action to management as issues arise.
•Apply the Brookfield Health, Safety, Security and Environmental policies and procedures to all projects. Manage contracted work within the requirements.
•Provide cost control and monthly spending forecasts on assigned projects.
•Ensure engineering records from assigned projects are properly stored for future reference.
Requirements
•Strong time management skills with the ability to organize, plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects.
•Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and to manage concurrent projects.
•Good negotiation skills with clients, contractors, and vendors.
•Effective oral and written communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to view tasks logically, break them down into essential requirements, and generate a solution to meet the project goals.
•A practical, adaptable, innovative, collaborative, and solution-focused approach to issues.
Qualifications
•Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering required.
•Professional Engineers license not required, but is desirable.
•Minimum of five (5) years of experience in progressive experience in project engineering.
•Core knowledge of construction techniques, construction/project management, and basic contract administration.
•Ability to travel within New York State.
•Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Budget: $80k-100k/yr.
Bonus: 10%
