Reporting to Manager, Labor Relations

The base salary for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $94,000 to $118,000 plus bonus
Position Summary:
The Sr. Advisor - Labor Relations works under the direction of the Manager, Employee & Labor Relations and has responsibility for day-to-day labor relations processes, interpretation, and application of union contracts and Company policies within assigned area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
•Develop and maintain positive partnerships with varying levels of personnel within other People and Organization teams, assigned management teams, and union officials.
•Conduct end-to-end, thorough, timely, confidential investigations of a varying complexity as assigned for union population(s) regarding potential human resources concerns, performance concerns, attendance violations, and contractual violations. Investigation process includes conducting interviews, analyzing evidence, reviewing applicable background documentation, interpreting applicable policies/procedures, and collaborating with applicable stakeholders, followed by preparing summary documentation and analysis for review of the findings of investigations.
•Provide manager support on issues of a varying complexity as assigned, including but not limited to, advising managers on best practices for adhering to applicable contract(s), resolving conflict, addressing performance and attendance concerns, changing working conditions, leave issues, etc. and recommending appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
•Manage grievance procedure in accordance with applicable contract(s) working closely with management team personnel; investigate and prepare grievance documentation for discussion in grievance procedure. If required, provide support and testimony in the arbitration proceedings.
•Provide analytical, research, administrative and strategic support in the preparation and conducting of collective bargaining agreement negotiations as well as follow-up actions after negotiations.
•Function as an internal consultant on multiple labor relations cases of a varying complexity as assigned.
•Partner as required with applicable groups internal and external to People and Organization to ensure compliance with applicable union contract(s) and Company policies/procedures.
•Assist with union requests for information as required.
•Researching and compiling information related to any employment related claims received against the Company from external agencies and/or attorneys to facilitate appropriate response from in-house counsel.
•Conduct formal training for supervisors on a variety of Labor Relations topics.
•Active participation in contract negotiations.
•Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
•BS/BA plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in labor relations, human resources, or employee relations. A combination of education and equivalent experience will be considered.
•Working knowledge of key federal and state laws that govern the workplace, including the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA), anti-discrimination laws like Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), as well as laws regarding harassment, retaliation, wage and hour regulations, family and medical leave, and other aspects of employment practices.
•Experience investigating and managing multiple cases of a varying complexity related to policy violations, contractual violations, performance concerns, attendance concerns, and other related matters.
•Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight time frames in a fast-paced environment.
•Proven communication, interpersonal, influencing, and conflict resolution skills.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with emphasis on clear and concise writing and presentation of data.
•Experience in using basic Microsoft programs, including but not limited, to Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Skills/Abilities:
•3+ years of experience in labor relations, human resources, or employee relations.
•Preferred work experience in utilities, manufacturing, or related industry.
•One (1) or more years of end-to-end investigatory experience with demonstrated moderate independent oversight preferred.
•Professional certification or accredited qualification preferred in human resources (e.g. PHR or SPHR).
•Experience in using case management software such as ServiceNow.
•Experience in using HRIS such as Workday and SAP.
•Experience presenting group orientations and/or trainings.
•Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.
