Job purpose

Utility Tree Workers help implement the brushing policies set forth by EQUS by removing trees or portions of trees near power lines. Utility Tree Workers complete day-to-day work as assigned by the Vegetation Leader, while providing assistance to the Utility Tree Trimmer and the Vegetation Team.

Duties

- Assist Utility Tree Trimmer with vegetation removal

- Ensure safe limits of approach and maintain right-of-way access by eliminating problem vegetation growing along high voltage power lines

- Assist in obtaining landowner consents

- Verify contractors’ completed work

- Assist work leader with preparation of tender packages for contractors

- Assisting in dealing with member concerns

- Other duties as required

Review and approval of work

This position reports directly to the Vegetation Leader

Job requirements

- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and Q air endorsement

- Good communication skills

- General computer literacy

Education and Experience

- Certified Utility Tree Worker registered with the Professional Vegetation Managers Association

- Crew experience on tree control crews

- Previous vegetation experience
