The Financial Analyst, Capital Development, provides critical financial and analytical support for the upstream business unit's major capital projects, including new well development, drilling programs, and infrastructure expansion. This role is responsible for the performance tracking and planning that informs multi-million-dollar investment decisions.
- Planning & Forecasting: Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to prepare and manage the annual capital expenditure (CapEx) plan and provide ongoing forecasts. Monitor project spending and flag any significant variances to plan.
- Performance Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports that track project performance against plan and original investment metrics. Provide clear, concise analysis and commentary for management.
- Financial Modeling & Valuation: Build and maintain detailed financial models to evaluate new capital projects. This includes calculating key investment metrics such as Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period, and Capital Efficiency ($/boe).
- Cross-Functional Communication & Coordination: Serve as the central point of contact for financial information, gathering and synthesizing data from multiple teams, including reservoir engineering, geology, and drilling operations, to ensure a unified and accurate financial view of the basin's capital projects.
- Decision Support & Analysis: Conduct sensitivity analysis on key project variables, such as commodity prices, drilling costs, and production volumes, to assess risk. Provide data-driven recommendations to support capital allocation decisions.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a financial analysis role, with experience in the oil and gas industry strongly preferred.- Strong proficiency in financial modeling and data analysis, particularly with Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of upstream oil and gas operations and terminology (e.g., E&P, G&A, OPEX, BOE).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for both financial and non-financial audiences.
