Job Summary:

In the purchasing role, you will be responsible for all purchases and orders that are made by the company or for it. This role requires effort and time to be put into the planning and consideration of the best suppliers to utilize. In this role you will be working closely with the Bookkeeper and logistics to ensure all orders are correctly placed and delivered. In this role you will have the opportunity to work with vendors through procuring equipment, goods, and services to further the company and yourself.

Tasks:

- Creates purchase orders for the acquisition of materials and develop strategies for purchases.

- Research, interview, and negotiate with suppliers to obtain prices and specifications.

- Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics.

- Evaluate different suppliers through research and interviews with them.

- Perform risk assessments on potential contracts and negotiations.

- Evaluating quality, price, reliability, technical support and availability of goods and services.

- Prepares import/export documents in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.

- Check shipping invoices for accuracy on all orders.

- Calculate the value of duties and tariffs due on transported goods.

- Assists with order quotes, both domestic and import.

- Communicates with all vendors about materials, especially handling import ribbon and medal orders.

- Monitor and forecast inventory supplies; Resolve any inventory discrepancies.

- Provides routine administrative support.

- Works with the office and production departments to attain materials.

- Works with the bookkeeper to track invoices of purchased material.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Able to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via e-mail

- Excellent negotiating and problem solving skills

- Precise detail-orientation

- Overseas shipping experience

- Expediting and customs experience is a plus

- Familiarity with the emblematic jewelry manufacturing industry

- Custom purchasing experience is a must

- Contact management/purchasing software experience

- Fluent in Microsoft Office & Google Suite apps

- Experience with NetSuite/Oracle software is a plus
