Job Description:
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Material Handler to support our Weld Department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring weld jobs are kitted accurately and materials are staged and organized to support a smooth production flow. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, takes initiative, and understands the importance of legibility and accuracy in all written documentation.
Responsibilities:
•Kit and stage materials for all welding jobs according to work orders and schedules.
•Accurately complete and maintain paperwork with legible handwriting, including job travelers, and material logs.
•Maintain organization on floor and racks including: consolidating parts on skis, minimize WIP on the floor, properly recording pallet locations and ensuring products are properly tagged.
•Transport materials, parts, and completed components to and from the weld area using forklift.
•Monitor inventory levels of welding materials and notify appropriate personnel when stock needs to be replenished.
•Ensure materials are labeled correctly and stored in designated areas to maintain organization and traceability.
•Work independently to identify and complete tasks that support the weld department without constant direction.
•Communicate effectively with welders, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and avoid delays.
•Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
•Back up and assist receiving department as needed
•Discard scrap, empty hoppers, rearrange work areas as needed/directed
Qualifications:
•Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting preferred, especially in a welding or fabrication environment.
•Ability to read and interpret work orders and material lists.
•Must have clear and legible handwriting to ensure proper documentation.
•Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
•Proven ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
•Forklift certification or willingness to obtain one.
•Basic computer and data entry skills are a plus.
•Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
•Strong drive to help departments grow and willingness to help with other duties outside of job description.
•Must be reliable and show up to work on-time and ready to work everyday.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
