ECOH is currently looking for a Project Manager QPESAto join our Environmental team. As a Project Manager QPESA you will be a core member of the Environmental team primarily responsible for managing and conducting a variety of deliverables including CSA Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), Phase One and Two ESAs, Site remediation, filing of Records of Site Condition (RSCs), On-site & Excess Soil Management (in accordance with O.Reg. 406/19) projects. The Project Manager/QPESA will apply his/her experience related to the RSC process, RSC submissions and excess soil management, and will hold either a P. Geo (Ontario) or P. Eng (Ontario) and a QPESA designation with a high degree of technical knowledge and a minimum of 10 years of applied experience.
- Overseeing a team of Environmental Technologists / Environmental Scientists, Senior Environmental Technologists / Senior Environmental Scientists, and Junior Staff, ensuring that Technical Standards are met in all regards.
- Delegating responsibilities and providing direction / mentorship and instruction to staff according to ECOH standards.
- Ensuring an environment of strong communication so that employees’ concerns are addressed.
- Working with upper management (i.e., Vice Presidents [VPs] and Senior Vice Presidents [SVPs]) to ensure that project resources meet or exceed established guidelines for standards of performance.
- Serving as the link between the junior staff and the VPs/SVPs to identify and close training gaps.
- Providing consistent constructive and meaningful feedback to all staff.
- Participating in the Employee Development Program (EDP) and providing relevant and meaningful input with respect to the reviews of the assigned team.
- Communicating with the VPs/SVPs to provide information related to assigned staff (progression, issues, developments, etc.).
- Overseeing and managing all aspects of projects.
- Preparing Technical Memoranda, Proposals and Reports.
- Conducting Technical Peer Reviews and assisting with Sr. review of all Environmental projects including but not limited to CSA Phase I/II ESAs, RSC Phase One/Two ESAs, Remedial Action Plans, Risk Assessments and implementation of remediation work, with a focus on Record of Site Condition and Excess Soil Management Projects.
- Providing technical direction, training and mentorship to all Environmental staff.
- Managing, supervising, and occasionally completing environmental sampling activities at various types of contaminated sites, including, but not limited to industrial, commercial, military, and other federal, provincial, and municipal sites. These responsibilities are typically comprised of coordination of work undertaken by other staff and/or subcontractors.
- Planning, conducting, supervising, reporting, and reviewing the work of others for consulting projects.
- Designing programs to meet the Client’s terms of reference / objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Participating in project and financial management including financial projections and analysis.
- Management of Client and their expectations.
- Maintaining quality control, quality assurance and policy compliance.
- Participating in business / Client development and marketing activities.
- Preparing and providing presentations and technical documents.
- Ensuring all aspects of health and safety compliance.
- A minimum four-year University degree in Geological Sciences or Environmental Engineering is required.
- Professional accreditation – P.Geo. (Ontario) or P.Eng. (Ontario) and QPESA designation required.
- Strong experience related to the RSC process and RSC submissions.
- Strong experience in Excess Soil Management projects as a QP
- A minimum of 10 years of applied professional experience as an Environmental Consultant and QPESA.
- Strong understanding of Municipal, Provincial and Federal regulations.
- Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment, including (if required) respiratory protection, specialized clothing, work boots, hard hats hearing protection, fall arrest, etc.
- Ability to lift boxes, equipment and/or coolers not exceeding 20kg.
- Time and resource management- ability to provide field staff with the appropriate direction, guidance, and instructions.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback to all staff consistently and appropriately.

- Valid “Class G” driver’s license and always maintain adequate insurance.
- Demonstrate general to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, Adobe, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook).
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of other technical related software programs (as required).
