The Opportunity
We are currently looking for individuals with a diverse group of backgrounds to join our Long Harbour Operations Team in Long Harbour, NL as a Processing Plant Technician (PPT). In addition, we are seeking candidates with Power Engineering certification to support our PPT duties in the Utilities Department.
The shift requirement for this role is a rotating 12-hour shift, for a one (1) year fixed term contract, with strong potential for permanent employment.
In addition to the core work of safely and efficiently operating the plant to produce a quality nickel product, our Technicians take a direct role in continuous improvement for the equipment and processes they use every day. Technicians are also business partners and are involved in the decisions and actions that keep our business balanced and competitive: maximizing reliability; reinforcing adherence to health, safety and environmental standards; carrying out administrative functions; and minimizing costs.
Our organizational design is innovative and sees Processing Plant Technicians executing these responsibilities through consensus-based decision-making, evaluating approaches and outcomes based on the needs of the business, the team, and the individual. We provide expectations around these decisions, by establishing boundaries and ensuring procedures are in place. In this position, you will:
Contribute to the safe production of world class nickel, cobalt & copper;
Adhere to procedures, regulations and policies with respect to safety, health and environment;
Schedule and coordinate operations, maintenance and other activities throughout the workplace;
Be part of a team focused on operational excellence and embrace the challenge to continuously develop by exchanging knowledge and insight with others to become a high-performance team.
About You
Education
Minimum requirement of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
A Newfoundland & Labrador 3rd or 4th Class Power Engineering Certificate is an asset.
Experience
Previous experience an industrial setting is considered an asset, however, we also appreciate that diversity of thought comes from our differences – and that is what makes us awesome and our Technicians unique!
