- Responsible for leading key aspects of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes for corporate entities, with a focus
on complex areas including cash close, intercompany transactions, equity and investment accounting, and advanced reconciliations.
The role owns the preparation and analysis of the corporate financial package – comparing actual results to prior forecast and
budgets – and provides meaningful insights that support management decision-making.
- Own the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations in accordance with GAAP, including but not limited to complex
areas such as cash close, intercompany transactions, and equity and investment accounting.
- Perform detailed reconciliations of corporate cash accounts, investigating and resolving variances in a timely manner.
- Own the preparation of the monthly Corporate earnings package, including actual results, prior forecast, and budget variance
analysis, ensure accuracy and clarity for the Accounting Manager to present to the executive leadership team.
- Own and assist the Staff Accountant with researching monthly expense variances to budget and prior year at both the entity and cost
- Assist the Accounting Supervisor and/or Manager with chart of account ownership in Oracle EDM, including but not limited to setting
up or renaming entities, accounts, cost centers, etc.
- Collaborate with the Accounting Supervisor and/or Manager to enhance reporting processes, automate workflows, and improve the
- Assist with internal controls compliance and testing, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to SOX and company
- Support quarterly and annual Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Coordinate and communicate with external auditors, preparing supporting schedules and addressing questions on complex
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requests from management and other internal stakeholders.
- Maintain advanced proficiency in Excel, accounting systems, and related tools, leveraging them to streamline analysis and reporting.
- Demonstrate flexibility in work hours to meet critical deadlines during close cycles and special projects.
- Uphold a strong commitment to personal and workplace safety for the protection of company assets, employees, and the general public.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Accounting.
- Must have a strong understanding of accounting and financial principles, with experience applying GAAP to complex transactions.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, data analysis) and working knowledge of other modules.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (for travel).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex accounting data and provide actionable insights.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
· Proven ability to identify process improvements and implement best practices in accounting operations.
· Must be able to collaborate effectively across departments, take direction, and also work independently with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS, COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
· Four (4) to Five (5) years or more of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
· Experience with Oracle or similar ERP systems; ability to navigate and extract data for analysis.
