Role Overview
The Senior Mechanical Quality Engineer is responsible for managing the quality control standards of the products within the Americas New Generation Systems (NGS) business. The Senior Mechanical Quality Engineer will lead teams in audit programs, complex inspections on mechanical and structural power plant systems. You will play a key role in upholding engineering integrity and delivering quality results from procurement through final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
•Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
•Broad understanding of Gas and Steam Turbine Auxiliary equipment, Heat Recovery Steam Generators, Selective Catalytic Reductive Systems, Pressure Vessels, Electric Generator, and Hydrogen equipment manufacturing for use in power generation.
•Incorporate Quality Assurance/Quality Control principles to maintain high-capacity utilization and optimize manufacturing and service operations ensuring product and service meets customer requirements.
•Develop Project Quality Inspection Budgets and monitor and manage adherence.
•Manage and lead teams to develop new Cross Functional Audits of new or existing suppliers.
•Create, manage, and execute on NCR’s (Non-Conformance reports) QN’s (Quality Notifications) issued as part of the audit process from onset to corrective action implementations.
•Determine appropriate methodology for root cause analysis of quality issues.
•Review technical specifications for procurement to extract quality requirements.
•Write quality specifications for mechanical and/or structural systems incorporated with the technical specifications.
•Write, review, analyze and distribute inspection reports.
•Review customer and supplier inspection/test plans, to assure proper witness or hold points are detailed and incorporated into Mitsubishi Power Engineering Plan.
Requirements
•Bachelor’s degree in any Engineering field or equivalent education at an accredited college or university.
•7+ years of experience as an auditor with international audit expertise.
•7+ years developing supplier audit programs.
•Firsthand expertise conducting in-process/final inspections on materials and products including structural weldments, machine components, mechanical assemblies.
•7+ years of expertise on heat recovery steam generators HRSGs and Selective Catalytic Reduction Systems
•Deep knowledge of major components for both HRSGs and SCRs and structures
•Subject matter expert on regulatory compliance of pressure vessels as well as knowledge of ductwork and structural steel
•Visual and direct expertise on mechanical systems; skids, pumps, fans, and other standard mechanical/structural systems
•Must have knowledge of welding technology and industry standards, ASME, ASTM, CWB
