Our Corporate office in Kent, OH, is currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team. This position plays a critical role in supporting financial decision-making by analyzing production and operational costs, managing inventory data, and ensuring accurate and efficient cost reporting.
Support financial decision-making by measuring, analyzing, and reporting costs associated with production, inventory, projects, and operations. Ensure cost efficiency, accurate financial records, and effective control of resources.
· Cost Analysis: Collect, analyze, and interpret cost data related to materials, labor, manufacturing overhead, and inventory. Analyze profitability and cost structures for products and services.
· Cost Reporting: Prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs; identify and investigate variances.
· Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, with an emphasis on production and operational costs.
· Inventory Management: Monitor inventory transactions, perform reconciliations and valuations, and generate inventory reports. Coordinate annual physical inventory and monthly cycle counts.
· Cost Control and Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost savings and recommend strategies for improvement. Collaborate with operations to implement cost control measures.
· System Maintenance and Compliance: Maintain cost accounting systems and documentation. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company standards.
· Support and Collaboration: Support month-end and year-end closings. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate forecasts and provide financial insights.
· Support ERP system implementation and ensure accurate financial and inventory integration.
· Prepare and file multi-state and local sales and use tax returns accurately and on time.
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
· 3 or more years of relevant accounting experience.
· Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
· Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
· Ethical and trustworthy with a proactive, self-motivated approach.
· Strong team player with the ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
· Willingness to work overtime as needed and perform a variety of tasks, including site visits.
· Ability to sit for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
· Ability to wear required PPE (e.g., safety glasses, high-visibility clothing, hearing protection) in production areas.
