ENGIE North America’s Assistant General Counsel – Retail (AGC – Retail) will manage the legal affairs associated with ENGIE Resources LLC and its subsidiaries, which operate ENGIE’s commercial and industrial retail power and gas sales business in the United States (“ENGIE’s US Retail Business”).
As part of the legal team in the North America region (United States and Canada), the AGC – Retail, based in Houston, TX will report to the Chief Legal and Ethics Officer, North America (the “North America CLO”) with a matrixed relationship to the executive leading ENGIE’s US Retail Business and the Global Business Unit attorney managing retail.
Daily you will manage the legal affairs of ENGIE’s US Retail Business, including contract negotiations, compliance, risk management and litigation management. You will provide legal and strategic guidance as part of the leadership team for ENGIE’s US Retail Business, ensuring compliance with a complex and ever-evolving legal and regulatory framework that governs the retail power industry in the United States. You will manage a team of attorneys and legal professionals focused on ENGIE’s US Retail Business. You will develop a network of reliable external legal advisors, and coordinate and manage these relationships with outside counsel, monitoring and controlling legal spend ensuring cost-effective legal support.
- You will have earned a Juris Doctorate from an ABA accredited law school
- You must be licensed to practice law in at least one state in the United States with retail electricity choice (Notable Examples: Texas, New York, Massachusetts)
- You Must have at least ten (10) years’ of combined legal experience across the described areas set forth above
- You will have at least five (5) years of experience in a major corporation in a major corporate legal department
- You will have prior energy industry experience with a company focusing on retail power sales
- You are experienced at planning and organizing legal work to meet individual, team and business line objectives while achieving quality and value
- You will have flexibility to handle additional responsibilities as defined at the request of the North America CLO or the executive leading ENGIE’s US Retail Business
- Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
- You have native proficiency in English with the ability to communicate and present; verbally, digitally, and in writing
- Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy.
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy
- Must be available to travel domestically up to 10% of the time with the need for some overnight trips
- Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license/clean driving record
- Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies

Salary Range: $227,000.00 – $347,990.00 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.
In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
