Coterra is hiring a Sustainability Engineering Analyst in Houston, Texas
As a Sustainability Engineering Analyst at Coterra
, you will support corporate-wide sustainability initiatives by managing and analyzing data using tools such as Spotfire, SQL, and Power BI. You will play a key role in developing high-fidelity analytics and reporting mechanisms, supporting sustainability performance tracking, and enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. This position is located onsite at our Houston, Texas headquarters.
- Analyze and manage sustainability-related datasets to support corporate goals in areas such as methane abatement, water strategy, and power development.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, and reporting tools using business intelligence platforms (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI).
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from databases and data lakes.
- Collaborate with operating teams to implement data-driven solutions for reducing environmental impacts (e.g., emissions, water disposal, spill reduction).
- Support sustainability reporting efforts by ensuring data quality and consistency across frameworks (e.g., EPA GHGRP, SASB, TCFD, AXPC, API).
- Benchmark peer data and perform comparative analysis to identify improvement opportunities.
- Participate in industry groups and maintain awareness of emerging sustainability technologies and standards.
- Use real-time data tools such as PI Vision and Seeq to monitor and analyze operational performance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Proficiency in business intelligence software (e.g., Spotfire, Power BI).
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
- General data management capabilities, including data cleaning, validation, and integration.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems and historians (e.g., Ignition, OSI PI, PI Vision, Seeq).
- Exposure to coding languages such as Python or R is beneficial.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a innovative environment with evolving priorities.- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred
- Preferred: 3+ years of experience in data analysis, sustainability, or related fields, ideally within the oil & gas industry.
Work is typically performed indoors in an office environment. Incumbents must be able to perform work that includes typing, sitting, and standing. Occasional visits to operations worksites may require personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, flame-resistant clothing). Safety rules including OSHA and DOT requirements are strictly enforced. Employees must be willing to travel and work extended hours on short notice.
- Approximately 15%; travel may be required for meetings or training.
