The Compliance Analyst role is a key contributor to Motiva’s Compliance Program, supporting regulatory integrity and operational transparency. Reporting to the Manager Regulatory Compliance, the analyst will lead and support compliance reporting, policy development, transaction monitoring, and regulatory filings. The position also plays a critical role in maintaining Delegation of Authority (DOA) controls and supporting Know Your Counterparty (KYC) processes.
This role is responsible for ensuring the results of their analysis are communicated clearly, accurately and on a timely basis to Risk, Finance and Management.
- Draft, revise, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, manuals, and forms.
- Submit timely reports to regulatory agencies (e.g., FERC EQR, FERC 552).
- Monitor and enforce compliance controls including DOA, Trader Checkout, and Trader Behavior.
- Review transactional records and exception reports to identify potential misconduct.
- Maintain and update the Transactional DOA, ensuring proper approvals are documented.
- Build strong relationships across Front and Back Office teams.
- Respond to ad-hoc compliance queries and support internal audits.
- Review findings and escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain KYC documentation, KPIs, and Dow Jones continuous monitoring.
- Provide backup coverage for KYC analysts.
- Support the implementation of annual compliance education programs.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- 5+ years in compliance, trading support, or risk control.- Familiarity with physical/financial energy markets (Crude Oil, Refined Products, Chemicals).
- Understanding of trading instruments (futures, swaps, ) and risk concepts.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and PowerBI.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- High ethical standards and sound judgment under pressure.
- Experience in oil & gas, energy, or other regulated industries.
- Exposure to compliance risk assessments and internal audits.
- Familiarity with compliance management systems or data analytics tools.
- Ability to interpret regulatory frameworks and translate them into actionable policies.
- Experience supporting cross-functional teams (Legal, HR, Finance, Operations).
- Knowledge of continuous monitoring tools and KYC platforms.
