Summary
The Maintenance Technician II will install, maintain and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments following specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings, using hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane, and measuring and testing instruments: Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment, using electrical and electronic test equipment.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
•Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, production machines; welding machines, plasma and propylene cutting equipment, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
•Proficient in calibration of welding and cutting equipment for optimum performance.
•Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
•Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
•Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
•Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges.
•Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
•Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
•Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
•Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
•Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
•Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
•Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
•Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
•Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Qualifications
•High School Diploma or equivalent preferred with a minimum of 4 -6 years’ experience in related field.
•Must have a valid state license or trade certificate in the areas of electrical, plumbing or crane.
•Keen knowledge of equipment maintenance.
•Solid knowledge of technical processes.
•Knowledge of basic safety procedures.
•Knowledge of power tools.
•Keen attention to details.
Physical Requirements
Fast-paced industrial / general office environment. Many tasks have high degrees of time sensitivity. While performing duties of the job the employee will be regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is sometimes loud. This role will require a large amount of standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and walking on a constant basis.
