Duties And Responsibilities
The Logistics Specialist will support and optimize offshore logistics for our Gulf of America operations. This role requires a strong background in supply chain management and logistics coordination within the oil and gas industry, with particular focus on offshore exploration, production, and drilling activities. The ideal candidate brings 3 to 7 years of hands-on logistics experience in the upstream energy sector, understands the complexities of offshore operations, and demonstrates the ability to leverage data and systems to drive logistics performance and efficiency. This position will be based in Houston, TX having offshore support responsibilities.
Responsibilities•Plan, coordinate, and support offshore logistics activities, including personnel movement, equipment/material transportation, and vessel scheduling.
•Assist with aviation and marine logistics, including helicopter flight manifests and vessel utilization planning.
•Collaborate with drilling, production, HSE, procurement, and warehousing teams to align supply chain support with operational requirements.
•Support inventory control, backload tracking, and cargo manifests using company logistics systems.
•Maintain and analyze logistics reports, KPIs, and dashboards for leadership visibility and operational efficiency.
•Serve as a liaison between internal teams, vendors, service providers to ensure effective communication and coordination across all supply chain touchpoints.
•Ensure timely delivery of critical supplies, drilling equipment, chemicals, and production materials to offshore assets.
•Utilize and help administer logistics management systems (LMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools to track shipments, cargo, and offshore support activities.
•Troubleshoot and resolve logistical challenges, including weather disruptions, mechanical delays, and vendor non-compliance.
•Identify and implement logistics process improvements to streamline workflows, reduce delays, and enhance overall supply chain performance.
•Maintain compliance with U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), BSEE, and other applicable regulations governing offshore logistics and transportation.
Education & Experience
•Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited 4-year University in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is required.
•Professional Experience: 3 to 7 years of experience in logistics coordination within the oil and gas industry, with strong exposure to offshore operations in the Gulf of America.
•Contract & Vendor Management: Ability to manage vendor relationships, monitor third-party logistics performance, and drive optimal utilization of services to support cost-effective and efficient operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
•Familiarity with marine logistics planning, offshore aviation, material coordination, and regulatory compliance (BSEE, USCG).
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated ability to work with large datasets, identify trends, and develop actionable insights.
•Strong leadership quality, self-initiative in project development, execution, and monitoring
•Demonstrated experience managing and optimizing logistics systems or platforms (e.g., P2 Tobin, INFOR, SAP, Oracle, or similar LMS/ERP tools).
•Working knowledge of drilling support logistics, including risers, casing, subsea tools, and rig consumables.
•Ability to travel to the regional office and shore base locations throughout Louisiana.
•Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements
•Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
•Ability to travel internationally if required.
•Ability to travel to make site visits to vendor facilities, offshore assets and other Talos office locations as required.
•Ability to travel without limitation, including airplanes, helicopters, and boats.
•Ability to utilize swing ropes to access platforms offshore as required.
•Ability to move freely on offshore assets, including stairs, ladders and lifting up to 50-lbs, and endure extreme weather conditions and hazardous atmospheres.
