Our client is seeking a Risk Analyst to support an established and growing natural gas trading desk in Houston. This role sits close to the trading team, focusing on daily P&L, exposure analysis, and trade validation while partnering with traders and operations. Key Responsibilities

- Produce daily P&L and risk reports, including variance analysis and commentary on key drivers

- Monitor and explain exposure across regional gas markets (e.g., basis, spreads, storage positions)

- Validate trade capture and ensure accuracy across the trade lifecycle

- Support traders with ad hoc analysis tied to market movements and portfolio performance

- Assist in improving reporting, tools, and processes (automation, data quality, controls)

- Partner with scheduling, operations, and accounting to ensure alignment across the business

Key Skills And Experience

- Minimum 2 years of experience supporting a natural gas trading or marketing desk

- Strong understanding of gas markets (pipelines, hubs, basis dynamics, seasonality)

- Advanced Excel skills; exposure to SQL, Python, or VBA is a plus

- Familiarity with P&L attribution and core risk concepts (exposure tracking, MtM)

- Detail-oriented with strong ownership and ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with traders and commercial teams
