Founded in 2022, Optik Technical Solutions, LLC is a fast-growing company based in Hammond, LA, serving AEC and industrial clients across the US Gulf Coast. We specialize in industrial technology services, including laser scanning, digital twins, and additive manufacturing.
You’ll be responsible for creating and managing detailed 3D models, assemblies, and production-ready drawings that support our digital inventory and additive manufacturing services. This position is a key part of our workflow, converting 3D scan data, engineering specs, and client requests into SolidWorks models that are accurate, optimized, and manufacturable.
- Design and model mechanical components, assemblies, and products in SolidWorks.
- Interpret 3D scan data, point clouds, and engineering documentation to recreate existing parts or develop new designs.
- Optimize designs for a variety of additive manufacturing methods (SLA, SLS, FDM, metal printing).
- Prepare technical drawings, BOMs, and documentation for internal and external manufacturing.
- Collaborate with scanning, inspection, and manufacturing teams to ensure design accuracy and feasibility.
- Conduct material take-offs and prepare models for production within tolerance specifications.
- Plan and manage design activities to align with production schedules.
- Conduct field verification when necessary to validate existing conditions before modeling.
- Education: Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience with SolidWorks design, with a focus on mechanical design, fabrication, or manufacturing support.- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks modeling, assemblies, and drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience working with 3D scan data, mesh files, and reverse engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with additive manufacturing technologies.
- Basic understanding of materials properties (both polymers and metals).
- Working knowledge of GD&T and dimensional tolerancing.
- Familiarity with CAD standards, version control, and file management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
