The Engineering Technician will work within the engineering team to develop a comprehensive understanding of the entire cell manufacturing process, with a focus on electrode. The function of the process engineering team is to develop and scale up manufacturing. Primary responsibilities of the technician include electrodeposition of anode active materials, coating of cathode active material, cell assembly, tracking process, and quality parameters. The individual in this role will assist the process engineering team in equipment commissioning and operation during scale-up. The technician will work under the direction and supervision of the Process Development Manager to define and improve manufacturing processes. This is an excellent opportunity for growth into a process engineering position at Prieto Battery.
This individual may be expected to relocate to a pilot facility after training onsite in Fort Collins, CO. Relocation expenses will be paid for by the company. The starting salary range for this position is $50,000 - $65,000 per year depending upon experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Perform various coating techniques to deposit anode and cathode materials
•Assist process engineers in build-out and operation of prototype equipment
•Assist process engineers in commissioning and operation of pilot-scale equipment
•Characterize electrodeposition solutions and anode compositions using pre-defined techniques
•Assist in standardizing operations-related SOPs and MWIs
•Proficiency in performing tasks in an inert environment (e.g. gloveboxes)
•Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on electrodeposition tanks and equipment
•Clean laboratory apparatuses and prepare chemical solutions according to provided formulae
•Troubleshooting of either acute or chronic quality or machine deviations
•Communication with both engineering and R&D teams to align research with scale-up goals
•Responsible for data tracking and management which will be used to drive high-impact decisions
•The employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk and may occasionally carry, lift, and/or move up to 40 pounds
Required Qualifications:
•2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
•Demonstrates competency in safe handling and use of chemicals and mechanical equipment
•Strong problem-solving or troubleshooting background
•Demonstrates interest in growing with the company in an engineering role
•Experience achieving individual and team-based SMART objectives
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
•Able to follow SOPs and recognize deviations from standard operating conditions
•Not deterred by repetitive tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience in battery manufacturing, working in clean room / dry room and solvent handling
•Experience with data analysis and execution of SPC/SQC tools
•Experience in electroplating or electrodeposition techniques advantageous
•Experience defining and tracking objectives and tasks in project management software
