Job Description
IHI has an opportunity for an Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Supervisor at our Sunnyside coal mine location in Utah.
Job Summary
The Operations and Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for managing the daily operations and maintenance activities assigned to the plant O&M Technicians. The O&M Supervisor directs the plant Technicians in a manner which optimizes production rates while ensuring a safe and environmentally compliant operations. IN addition, the O&M Supervisor is responsible for establishing a maintenance management process that achieves established key performance indicators while working within the established budget plan. Specific job functions and responsibilities are as follows:
Job Functions•Report normal, abnormal, or emergency plant conditions to the Plant Manager. Take necessary corrective action in accordance with established policy.
•Provide guidance related to equipment conditions and required maintenance activities. The O&M Supervisor will facilitate and plan the necessary maintenance outages with the maintenance team.
•Prepare required reports for the owner.
•Oversee the daily upkeep of necessary plant logs and records.
•Maintain the Operations Manuals and ensure that operating policies and procedures are kept up to date.
•Sustain the morale and motivation of operations personnel and handle employee concerns, as they arise, in accordance with HR policy and protocols.
•Assist with the location, screening and hiring of operating personnel. Complete other tasks as requested by the Plant Manager.
•The O&M Supervisor operates from established and well-known procedures, performing duties independently with only general direction given. Decisions are made within policy constraints.
•The O&M Supervisor encounters new and varied work situations, involving a high degree of complexity.
•The O&M Supervisor must ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner resulting in no accidents, in compliance with all environmental permits at all times.
•The O&M Supervisor must effectively communicate information to the O&M Manager, Plant Manager, fellow supervisors, and subordinate operation and maintenance personnel, relative to the condition of the plant equipment and performance and provide suggestions for plant improvement.
•The O&M Supervisor must ensure duties are performed in such a way as to result in an optimum cost benefit ratio.
•All employees have the responsibility to both the customer and their co-workers to do the job right the first time and to ensure the customer's needs are being met.
•The O&M Supervisor supervises subordinate operations personnel and cooperates with the Management team as needed in the daily operation of the plant.
Education and Experience
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
•5+ years of power plant or mining industry experience required.
•At least 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
•Strong leadership and motivational skills required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -
which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.
•Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
•Must be cooperative with those he/she contacts in this work and have the ability to work without direct supervision.
•Must know the hazards involved and the safety precautions to be practiced in the operation and maintenance of power plant equipment and machinery.
•Work within and insure strict adherence to all safety practices and procedures.
•Must be able to respond to audio alarms and variations of sound.
•Familiarity with reading P&ID’s and Technical drawings.
•Above average data entry/computer skills
•Work as a team. Must be able to pool our knowledge and energy to work in tandem to completely understand and productively respond to all of the business challenges.
Work Environment -
Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.
•Protective equipment such as hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high voltage protective equipment and other equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties.
•Work with hazardous materials may be required.
•Requires working extended working hours, varied shifts with weekend and holiday work as required by schedules, workload and plant conditions. On call status (day and night) may be required. Includes working indoors and outdoors.
