The ServiceNow/Service Management Intern will support the IT Service Management (ITSM) team in enhancing service delivery, process documentation, and platform optimization. This role offers hands-on experience with ServiceNow, exposure to enterprise service operations, and opportunities to contribute to strategic initiatives such as AI OPS, Business Continuity Management (BCM), and Event Management.

Key Responsibilities

- Support integration efforts for event sources into ServiceNow, including dashboards and alert rules.

- Participate in roadmap and strategy sessions to align service management work with business initiatives.

- Collaborate with developers and process owners to identify and resolve service bottlenecks.

- Help prepare demo materials and contribute to internal communications and training content.

- Attend team meetings and contribute to discussions on customer engagement and service improvement.

- Learning Objectives

- Gain practical experience with ServiceNow.

- Understand the lifecycle of IT services and how they are managed within a large enterprise.

- Develop skills in process mapping, documentation, and performance reporting.

- Learn how service management supports business continuity and disaster recovery planning.

This position is for a June 1, 2026 start date. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship’s initial term based on the candidate’s successful performance and Xcel Energy’s business needs.

Minimum Requirements

- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field.

- Current Student, Sophomore or higher.

- Strong analytical and communication skills.

- Familiarity with Excel, Visio, and collaboration tools like SharePoint.

- Interest in IT service delivery, process improvement, and enterprise platforms.

Preferred Skills

- Exposure to ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms.

- Experience with data visualization or dashboard tools.

- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $17.00 to $27.20 per hour
