Starting Salary:
$35.96/hour
Choptank Electric Cooperative is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated AMI Endpoint & Smart Grid Technician to join our team in Denton, MD. This position supports the installation, maintenance, and operation of AMI (Advanced Metering Infrastructure) and smart grid technology, including fiber optic systems, to help ensure reliable electric service for our members.
Requirements
•
High school diploma or equivalent
•
Valid Class "C" driver's license and DOT medical card
•
Coursework or familiarity in mathematics, networking, computer fundamentals, or fiber optics is preferred
•
Experience with AMI and smart grid technology is a plus
•
Understanding of fiber optic technology and fiber splicing is a plus
•
Must pass a skills assessment and complete six months of on-the-job training
•
Enrollment in an approved Northwest Lineman's College Power Delivery Program is required and must be completed within two years
•
Must obtain specified fiber optic certifications and become proficient within six months
Additional Expectations
•
Must be willing to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
•
May work near high-voltage equipment and in substations
•
Required to assist during major outages as needed
•
Must reside within 17 miles of the assigned district office and meet minimum call-out response expectations
•
Physical exam, drug screening, and ability to lift 50 pounds are required
