The Purchaser is responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders and delivery of materials to meet customer order requirements and maintain stock inventory levels within approved guidelines.
- Status: 3-month contract
- Shift: Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm
- Location: Calgary N.E.
- Communication with their colleagues, supervisors, and managers.
- Purchasing material for inventory, production, testing and prototyping to fill internal and external customer orders.
- Verifying receipt of items and authorizing payments.
- Providing Planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Assisting in the writing of and updating purchasing procedures, protocols, and checklists.
- Complying with Steelhaus HSE policies and procedures.
- Establishing and managing on-going business relationships with external suppliers.
- Negotiating contract terms and conditions.
- Ensuring NDAs are up to date and on file for all suppliers.
- Assisting in the preparation of estimates on new designs, materials, and threads.
- Monitoring price and communicating adjustments.
- Meeting or exceeding the target project margin.
- Maintaining the Steelhaus Approved Suppliers List.
- Updating software with required information related to POs and vendors.
- Expediting orders to ensure on time delivery, including the supply of quality and certification documentation packages.
- Attending and participating in production meetings.
- Coordinating and running pre-job meetings.
- Working with QC and Engineering to establish supplier quality requirements.
- Verifying receipt of items with the Receiver; resolving shipments in error with suppliers.
- Performing Critical Supplier capability audits.
- Ensuring that manufacturing and production processes of suppliers meet international and national quality and safety standards as required.
- Assisting in cycle counts.
- Assisting in QA/QC processes where required.
- Post-Secondary courses in purchasing/supply chain preferred.
- 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing and machining environment.- Experience with ERP systems.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Good arithmetic skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- General proficiency of Microsoft Excel.
