The Opportunity
Vermilion Energy has an exciting opportunity within the Canadian Business Unit seeking a Completions Engineer. Based in Calgary, this role will report directly to the Team Lead, Completions and be an integral part of the Canadian Business Unit Completions Team. This role will focus on maximizing the value of reserves in Canada by efficient planning and execution of development and exploration projects. This position is also responsible for ensuring suitable well site supervision, service contractor equipment and personnel are available for operations, and will collaborate with the Drilling & Completions team as well as Asset teams on planning and execution of projects.

What You Will Do
- Develop detailed completion designs for vertical, and horizontal wells, including both execution and planning and appropriate new technology applications.
- Optimize stimulation and completion strategy (e.g., multi‑stage fracturing, liner selection, perforation strategy)
- Ensure all completion activities comply with AER/BCER regulations, company standards, and industry best practices
- Prepare cost estimates, AFE inputs, and risk assessments for completion programs.
- Perform post project lookbacks including actual spend analysis, identifying out of scope actives, and provide recommendations for cost estimate refinements
- Provide real‑time engineering support during field operations, troubleshooting issues such as wellbore obstructions, equipment failures, or stimulation performance deviations
- Support the asset teams on well intervention or conversions
- Oversee service providers and ensure adherence to technical specifications and operational standards
- Analyze post‑completion well performance and stimulation results to identify improvement opportunities
- Evaluate and select service companies for hydraulic fracturing, wireline, coiled tubing, and completion equipment
- Stay current with emerging technologies in frac design, completions strategies, data digitization and analysis, operations automation, and downhole tools- 7+ years of relevant industry completion experience with a strong emphasis on horizontal multi-stage frac completions/stimulations
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a registered Professional Engineer with APEGA
- Eligible for membership with EGBC
- Strong technical understanding around planning and execution of various hydraulic fracturing techniques
- Working knowledge of general completion and workover operations
- Ability to work in a team atmosphere where the completion engineer is an integral part of the group rather than an individual entity
- An efficient and precise communicator as the position requires interaction with team members, wellsite supervisors, service companies and regulatory bodies
- Ability to self motivate and prioritize time to set and achieve deliverables
