Position Summary
We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Packer to join our manufacturing team. This role is responsible for carefully packaging both small and large parts, including tubing and other components—for shipment or internal distribution. The ideal candidate will ensure all parts are protected, accurately labeled, and prepared according to customer specifications and company standards.
Key Responsibilities
Packaging Operations
•Prepare and package a wide range of parts, from small, machined components to large tubing, ensuring safe transport and storage.
•Select appropriate packaging materials (e.g., boxes, crates, foam, shrink wrap, protective sleeves) based on part size, weight, and fragility.
•Secure tubing and large parts using blocking, strapping, or custom bracing methods to prevent shifting or damage during transit.
•Create and attach proper labels, tags, and documentation (part numbers, customer information, quantity, etc.) to packaged items.
Quality & Compliance
•Inspect parts for cleanliness, defects, and correct quantities prior to packing.
•Follow all customer packaging specifications, including bundling, stacking, and protective wrapping procedures.
•Record packaging information accurately on packing slips or in the ERP system.
•Collaborate with the shipping team to ensure on-time preparation and handoffs for scheduled pickups.
Safety & Maintenance
•Operate packaging tools and equipment (e.g., banders, stretch wrap machines, pallet jacks) safely and effectively.
•Maintain a clean and organized packaging area, adhering to 5S and safety protocols.
•Report damaged parts, packaging materials shortages, or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately.
Qualifications
•High school diploma or GED preferred.
•Prior experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment, especially packing large or irregularly shaped items.
•Ability to read and understand job travelers, packing instructions, and part identification labels.
•Comfortable working with measuring tools (e.g., tape measures) to ensure packaging accuracy.
•Able to lift 50+ lbs and safely handle large tubing and components using mechanical assistance when needed.
•Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management.

Working Conditions:
•Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
•Requires standing, walking, and lifting for extended periods.
•May involve exposure to noise and varying temperatures.
•Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
