Summary

Job Description

This position will oversee the design division and direct preparation of designs for new or modified projects. Additionally, this position will direct the modification of existing Chugach distribution and sub-transmission facilities in support of system improvement projects. The position will be the Chugach representative in dealing with customers and agencies relative to joint-use, and relocation of Chugach facilities.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has the supervisory responsibility for the design division.

Work Environment

Most of work schedule will be performed in a standard office environment. Some field trips will be required for inspection and design review in varying weather conditions. Outside meetings will be necessary. Occasional out-of-town trips and meetings may be required. Flights in fixed-wing and helicopters will occasionally be required.

Minimum Qualifications And Experience

Education

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline; required. Additional specialized training in electric utility design, construction, planning and accounting; preferred. Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Alaska, or ability to attain registration, preferred.

Experience

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience, including supervisory responsibility, in electrical distribution engineering design or construction experience, required.

This experience must include design of sub-transmission or distribution substations, distribution lines and facilities, underground systems, transformer banks, and similar horizontal plants. Experience working in a union environment; preferred.

Substitution

Additional professional experience in similarly complex distribution role or related field may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
