About This Job

The Power Systems Engineer will provide electrical engineering analysis and technical support for the interconnection of new generation resources and future planning of the electric power system.

•

Analyzes transmission network data including Transmission and Generation element parameters.

•

Analyzes the results of simulated power system studies and may compare to actual operating data to ensure compliance with applicable standards.

•

Performs powerflow studies as required to analyze the feasibility of proposed generation interconnections.

•

Reviews and develops methods to increase model accuracy including data comparisons and validity checks.

•

Develops, enhances, and maintains reports associated with Protocol and Guide compliance criteria.

•

Communicates requirements and results to all internal and external stakeholders in the interconnection process.

•

Works closely with Client Services and System Planning.

Education:

•

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

•

or a combination of education and experience that provides the applicant with knowledge equivalent to a major in such fields.

Required Experience:

•

One year experience (in excess of degree requirements stated above) of progressively responsible experience in electric utility industry.

Preferred Experience:

•

Experience running power system load flow studies in PSSE.

•

Experience running transfer analysis systems studies.

•

Ability to clearly communicate requirements and other technical information.

•

Ability to write technical reports of in-depth analysis completed.

•

Experience with Python, VBA, or another programming language.

•

Experience creating queries in Access, Oracle, or SQL.

•

Experience using TARA.
