Underground Diamond Drille

Location: Timmins, Ontario (Local Mine Site)

Schedule: 14 days on, 7 days off (14-7 rotation)

Orbit Garant Drilling Services, a leader in diamond drilling and exploration, is seeking highly skilled and safety-conscious Underground Drillers to join our dedicated team at our local mine site in Timmins, Ontario. Key Responsibilities:

As an Underground Driller with Orbit Garant, you will be responsible for:

- Overseeing and executing diamond drilling operations safely, efficiently, and effectively in an underground setting.

- Applying advanced diamond drilling techniques, particularly in deep hole projects and formations involving graphite and/or talc.

- Setting up, operating, and performing advanced maintenance and troubleshooting on underground drill rigs and associated equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.

- Continuously monitoring drilling parameters (oil, air, pressure, temperature) and making necessary adjustments to optimize drilling performance and core quality.

- Ensuring the accuracy and reliability of drilling data and core samples, preparing them for geological analysis.

- Enforcing all safety protocols and procedures, proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards, and fostering a strong safety-conscious culture within the drilling team.

- Directing, overseeing, training, and mentoring your Drill Assistant, supporting their professional development.

- Effectively communicating drilling progress, safety concerns, and equipment status with your crew, supervisors, geologists, and engineers.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Proven experience as an Underground Driller, with a strong understanding of diamond drilling operations and safety protocols.

- Demonstrated experience in deep hole drilling and/or drilling in graphite and talc formations.

- Physical ability to handle demanding tasks, including lifting and maneuvering heavy equipment in an underground environment.

- Valid and current driver's license with a reliable source of transportation.

- Ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 14-day on, 7-day off rotation, including both day and night shifts.

- Strong commitment to safety, adherence to procedures, and a proactive work ethic.

- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

- Willingness to undergo pre-employment and ongoing drug and alcohol testing, as well as a physical assessment, including the ability to lift up to 75 pounds independently.

Preference will be given to candidates local to the Timmins, Ontario area. However, highly experienced drillers with exceptional qualifications, particularly those with a proven track record in deep hole, graphite, and/or talc drilling, are encouraged to apply regardless of current location, provided they are within driving distance to Timmins, Ontario, as no fly-in/fly-out options are available for this role. Their unique skill sets and years of service may be taken into consideration.
