TECHNICAL SPECIALIST – CEMENT & ACIDIZING – CALGARY (CAT)
In the role of Technical Specialist – Cement & Acidizing you will research, design and present cement and acidizing services and treatments for clients in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
Responsibilities:
•Ensure that Trican's core value, "Safe equipment and operations" is the priority in all activities
•Write technical designs, job procedures, and cost estimates for clients and/or operations staff to follow when performing jobs in the field
•Collaborate with sales, clients, lab and operations staff to ensure technical designs are clearly understood and accomplished in a safe and efficient manner
•Convey technical issues and solutions through formal presentations as required to both internal staff and external clients
•24 hour on call rotation for a week-long shift as per group schedule
•Track and present key performance indicators for customers
•Ensure adherence to all Trican Well Service health and safety policies, procedures, guidelines, and requirements
•Follow-up after jobs to review and assess the success level of treatments
•Assist in the implementation of new technologies
•Strive to ensure continuous improvement in designs and technology
•Develop and maintain a co-operative working relationship with sales and laboratory staff
•Promote and enhance the technical and operational reputation of Trican
•Utilize the cement fluid dynamics and cement integrity modeling software
•Participate in the bid process for cementing services
•Lead small projects involving one or two junior staff
•Participate in training activities with particular regards to operations staff
•Other duties as required and assigned by technical team lead or technical manager
Experience & Skills:
•Post-secondary degree or diploma in Engineering or related discipline
•Minimum 2 years of oil and gas technical experience or equivalent field service accepted (military experience will also be considered)
•A strong newly graduated candidate may be considered
•Eligible for registration with APEGA or ASET preferred
•Strong customer focus with decision making process based on company’s core values
•Broad technical and practical knowledge of operations, products, company policies, and government regulations
•Strong interpersonal skills conveyed in a pleasant and professional manner when interacting with employees, management, and customers
•Sound analytical and interpretational skills
•Skilled in problem-solving techniques
•Skilled in verbal and written communication
•Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly with a high attention to detail
•Ability to work at a fast pace and produce quality work
•Ability to prioritize multiple activities with tight deadlines
•Ability to be highly motivated and operate independently with minimum direct supervision
•Proficient with Microsoft Office desktop applications and engineering specialty programs

Working Conditions:
•Regular office hours, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm
•Participate in 24 hours x 7 day on call rotation (shared by other teammates)
