The Opportunity:

The Leadership Conference is seeking a Sr. People & Culture Associate to join our People & Culture (P&C) Department. Reporting to the Director, Talent & Learning Development, the ideal candidate will have experience supporting the full spectrum of talent management functions. This person is a highly motivated and skilled administrator, with exceptional prioritization and implementation skills; can communicate effectively at all levels of the organization; and demonstrates diligent follow-through.


This position is an individual contributor and is not a part of the collective bargaining unit.


Candidate Profile:

In this role, the Senior Associate will support recruitment and onboarding and provide full support for the organization’s internship program. The Associate will also contribute and assist the larger team with special projects related to modernizing and streamlining processes, building capacity, and strengthening stakeholder engagement.

- Provide confidential administrative support for the VP, People & Culture, including coordinating and managing a highly active calendar/schedule to track upcoming deadlines, events, and appointments.

- Partner in the full-cycle recruitment process to include job postings, scheduling initial planning meetings, candidate screenings, and interviews. Review resumes and conduct candidate screenings to evaluate candidate qualifications and interest.

- Assist in guiding hiring managers and candidates throughout the interview and pre-hire processes. Coordinate interview logistics, feedback collection, and offer of employment documentation. Managing candidate data and recruiting activity in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS).

- Participate in pre-onboarding and onboarding activities to ensure smooth integration of new hires.

- Partner in reestablishing the organization’s internship program, to include the recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding of interns.

- Assist in organizing career fairs, campus recruitment events, and networking initiatives to promote a positive employer brand.

- Keep up to date with talent management trends and non-profit (civil rights/social justice) labor market information. Support P&C and organizational initiatives by conducting research when needed.

- Process P&C talent & workplace culture invoices and contracts, including monthly credit card expenses reconciliation.

- Perform other duties as necessary and related.


In addition, strong candidates will offer:

- A minimum of 5 years of human resources experience is required, and in nonprofits is preferred.

- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience.

- Passion for civil and human rights and social justice issues.

- Ability to balance multiple tasks, manage a complex workload, and organize time efficiently.

- Reliable self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through on requests.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and a high level of discretion around sensitive matters.

- Positive work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills. Desire and ability to work with diverse groups of stakeholders.

- Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and be able to determine and develop necessary approaches for solutions.

- Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions thoroughly, accurately, consistently, and reliably.

- Highly effective communication, time management, and organizational skills. Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical ability with strong attention to detail.

- Software proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and in the Windows environment, including Microsoft Office 365, DocuSign, and Monday.com.

Compensation & Benefits:

The target salary range for this position is $84,058 – $103,328.

The range provided is the minimum and maximum salary. The Leadership Conference, in good faith, believes that at the time of this posting, it is willing to pay the advertised salary for the position. Exact compensation is commensurate with experience and reflects internal comparisons.

Salaries are just one component of The Leadership Conference’s total compensation package. The Leadership Conference is committed to supporting our staff’s physical, emotional, and financial well-being through a robust benefits package for you, eligible dependents, and domestic partners. It includes generous paid time off, including fifteen (15) federal holidays, as well as biweekly organization-specific holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and transit benefits. The Leadership Conference has formally recognized a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) with the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 2 – AFL-CIO. The Leadership Conference and the Union, guided by a CBA, work together in good faith and are motivated by a shared history and commitment to this organization.


In-Office Work Policy:

The Leadership Conference has implemented a hybrid In-Office Work Policy in three phases. As of September 1, 2025, the first phase requires staff members to work in person from the office at least 2 days per month. As of January 1, 2026, the second phase requires staff members to work in person from the office at least 1 day per week or 4 days per month. The final phase begins on April 1, 2026; staff members will be required to work in person from the office at least 2 days per week or 8 days per month.

All positions are subject to the In-Office Work Policy summarized above. (A more detailed description of the policy – to include how in-office workdays are to be scheduled – is available upon request from People & Culture.)
