About Island Gold District: Alamos Gold’s Island Gold District will become one of the largest and lowest-cost gold mines in Canada. With the two mines within the district, Island Gold and Magino employ over 900 team members who work in the underground and open pit operations and are located in northern Ontario, just east of the town of Dubreuilville, 83 kilometres northeast of Wawa. Role Overview/Purpose:

The Senior Water Management Specialist (SWMS) will plan, develop and execute the water management strategy for Island Gold Districts (IGD). This individual will provide expertise and support in the areas of hydrology, hyrdrogeology and water resource management to the water management teams, establishing and ensuring best practices and quality control are maintained for the sites. The incumbent will coordinate teams responsible for surface dewatering and water treatment discharge water quality and ensure that goals and objectives are achieved.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership, teamwork, business development acumen, project and program management expertise, and strong technical capabilities.


Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive water management strategies aligned with IGD’s operational and environmental objectives.
Provide technical leadership in hydrology, hydrogeology, and water resource management.
Oversee surface water dewatering systems and ensure compliance with discharge water quality standards.
Coordinate and support site water management teams to ensure consistent application of best practices.
Monitor and evaluate water treatment performance and recommend improvements.
Lead water balance modelling and forecasting to support operational planning.
Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and permits.
Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
Support emergency response planning related to water management risks.


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Hydrogeology, Water Resources, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation, or eligibility to obtain.
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to remote sites as required.
Strong understanding of Canadian environmental regulations and permitting processes.
Minimum of 8 years of related experience required, with preference for similar experience in mining and tailings water management.
Demonstrated experience with water management planning and resource management is required including hydrology surveys, data collection, flood control and mitigating risk, designing hydraulic structures, and erosion and sedimentation control.
Excellent understanding of related environmental standards and regulatory requirements and experience working with regulators.
Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control practices.
Proven experience in hydrological and hydrogeological assessments.
Demonstrated success in managing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
Experience with water treatment systems, discharge compliance, and environmental monitoring.
Familiarity with mine water balance modeling and water quality forecasting.
Proficiency in water modeling software (FEFLOW, GoldSim) and GIS tools.
