Safety, Health, Environment and Regulatory Specialist (Mine)
In this role, you will lead Safety, Health, Environment and Regulatory (SHER) initiatives and job duties at the mine. You will influence, mentor and coach mine site personnel in day to day activities. - Support, influence, mentor and coach mine site personnel and leadership in day to day activities by having an active field presence and leading by example
- Support operational leaders and teams with respect to conventional health and safety, industrial hygiene, process safety, environmental protection and radiation protection with focus on:
- Hazard identification (and risk assessments) and hazard mitigation through authorization and permit to work systems
- Work place inspections, audits and observations
- Incident investigation, classification, analysis and reporting
- Change Management
- Contractor Management
- Will ensure SHER standards are implemented at the mine and upheld as outlined in the Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Prepare and present/train on SHER Topics to mine site personnel
- Embrace and support Operational Excellence (OE) efforts and OE culture
- Assist in the maintenance of the IMS by preparing and updating related documentation including procedures, work instructions and forms
- Prepare and assist in daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting (and KPI development and monitoring)
- Lead permit issuance, SHER monitoring, and sampling at the mine including:
- Radiation Protection monitoring such as dosimetry, ventilation and contamination control
- Environmental Protection sampling and monitoring such as daily groundwater level measurements, groundwater and surface water sampling, adhoc samples as required
- Issuance of permit to work systems such as confined space entry, hot work, ground disturbance, fall protection and radiation work permits
- Regulator communication with SHER team regarding ongoing investigations, issues, continual improvements and other
- Be an active member of the McClean Lake Operation Emergency Response Team
Skills and Qualifications for the position include:
- Post Secondary Education in an applicable science field
- 5+ years experience in Safety, Health, Radiation Protection, Environment and/or Regulatory- Excellent computer skills in spreadsheets, data management systems
- Technical reading and writing skills is required
- Proficiency using SAP, SharePoint, Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with the operation of agencies such as CNSC, Sask Labour, etc.
- Good written and oral communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
- McClean Lake site
- 14 days in and 14 days out rotating schedule
- Normally an 11 hour work day, although some activity outside or normal working hours may be required

Fly Day-
This position will fly in and fly out on Tuesdays
Pick-Up Points:
Saskatoon, Prince Albert, La Ronge, Buffalo Narrows and the designated communities in the Athabasca region of Uranium City, Stony Rapids, Fond du Lac, and Wollaston.
