Job Summary
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Parts Manager to oversee the parts department within our dealership. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience with systems related to parts procurement and inventory management. This role requires effective negotiation skills and the ability to manage demand planning efficiently. The Parts Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that all parts are available for service operations, contributing to overall customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
•Manage the daily operations of the parts department, including inventory control, procurement, and distribution of parts.
•Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track inventory levels and order status.
•Negotiate with suppliers to procure necessary parts at competitive prices while maintaining quality standards.
•Oversee demand planning processes to ensure adequate stock levels based on service department needs and historical data.
•Collaborate with service technicians to identify required parts for repairs and maintenance tasks.
•Maintain accurate records of all transactions, including purchases, sales, and returns of parts.
•Ensure compliance with safety regulations while operating forklifts and other equipment used in the parts department.
•Fabricate or modify parts as needed to meet specific service requirements or customer requests.
Experience
•Proven experience in a similar role within a dealership or automotive environment is preferred.
•Strong mechanical knowledge is essential for understanding part specifications and compatibility.
•Familiarity with CMMS software and inventory management systems is highly desirable.
•Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and vendors.
•Experience in demand planning and forecasting for parts inventory is an asset.
•Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently is required.
