What you’ll do
Responsibilities may vary depending on the specific position assigned, but they may include:
Reliability Engineering
•Perform field visits to assist the area team with troubleshooting equipment.
•Support field investigations to develop and document technical scoping for repair, replacement, and/or modifications
•Assist in Fitness-For-Service evaluations of equipment identified by the mechanical integrity program to ensure compliance with Cenovus engineering practices and ASME codes/standards
•Assist in the development and creation of engineering work packages for routine maintenance activities (Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, Work Scope, Vendor Data) in accordance with Cenovus engineering practices and ASME codes/standards
•Help with updating plant rotating and fixed equipment technical drawings/documents
•Assist with generating and/or updating plant material descriptions for critical spare parts
•Help to gather and enter updated information into existing or newly created spreadsheets. Data may come from engineering files or verification of equipment located throughout the refinery
•Contact machinery vendors for missing/required information
•Participate in field supervision of maintenance and project work conducted throughout the refinery
•Use predictive maintenance tools to be utilized to examine machinery to assess machinery condition and to determine the scope of work during machine overhaul
•Assist with creating SAP (ERP software) notifications, purchase requests, and cost accounting methods
Projects Engineering
•Develop engineering troubleshooting skills
•Assist project engineers with designs of less complex equipment such as power distribution, motor control, instrumentation & process measurements (level, flow and pressure), etc.
•Provide data for engineering, procurement, and construction of capital projects
•Apply hands-on project management
•Maintain and develop cost budgets and schedules for projects
•Oversee on-site construction and commissioning of engineering projects
•Assist project engineers and other discipline engineers to ensure consistency in the execution of project management activities
•Help create and scope out potential projects to improve output
•Help to coordinate site projects through execution, planning, and interface stages, ensuring that activities are completed on schedule and within budget
•Assist the refinery operations to understand performance and production data
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
•Legally authorized to work in the U.S. full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon request (e.g. passport, Social Security, etc.)
•Available to begin work on or around September 8th, 2025
•As this position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, a valid U.S. driver's license is required
•Previous experience is considered an asset
•Strong attitude for carrying out all work in a safe, cautious manner while following safe work practices
•Strong verbal and written communication skills

Education
•Must be enrolled in an Undergraduate Program studying Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related disciplines at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term
•Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered
•New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities
Working Conditions
May include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at site, etc.
Safety Sensitive
•This may be a safety-sensitive role, and you will be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements
•Safety sensitive positions may require the operation of a motor vehicle. Applicants may be asked to provide a valid U.S. driver’s license if offered the position
Relocation
•Students moving for their work term may be eligible to receive a lump sum payment to assist with relocation expenses
