Labourer

JOB DESCRIPTION

This is an exciting, in-house, full-time position that includes a variety of challenges, and continuous learning as part of the Structural & Misc. Steel fabrication team. As a labourer, you will be performing general duties, varying on the specific department you are working in. Duties include operating basic hand tools, assisting machine operators, welders, painters and crane operators. Housekeeping, material handling, machine operating are also key components of this position.

DUTIES & RESPONSABILITIES

· Comply with all applicable health and safety principles, procedures, policies and company safety program

· Use of overhead crane to move material

· Clean up the shop and yard from hazardous or obsolete material

· Operate various equipment

· Transfer equipment manually or with a forklift truck

· Use of magnetic drill, hand tools, electric and pneumatic tools

· Complete daily tasks as directed by the Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred

· Combination of additional education or 1 year of experience

· Ability to lift heavy loads and transfer them manually

· Great communication for working with others

· Attention to detail

· Willing to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The ability to stand continuously is essential, with frequent walking and occasional sitting. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects, to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
