We are hiring two (2) full time temporary (up to 11 months), Labourer 2,WDT System Maintenance positions to join our crews working out of the Aurum location in Edmonton, AB!
EPCOR Water Services is looking for self-motivated and hard-working individuals with previous labourer experience to work outdoors in all weather conditions to operate and maintain the water distribution & transmission network in Edmonton, AB.
What you’d be responsible for
Reporting to the Manager of WDT System Maintenance, the Labourer 2 position is accountable for, but not limited to:
•Maintenance and operation of Water D&T assets including hydrants, distribution, and transmission valves.
•Administering water system flushing and sampling
•Responding to and controlling water main breaks
•Exercise good judgement related to the manipulation of the water distribution and transmission system
•Driving EPCOR vehicles to move tools & equipment to and from the job site.
•Use of hand tools, power tools, pumps, and other equipment.
•Updating the system and maintaining accurate records.
•Making safety a priority and supporting the achievement of a "zero injury" culture.
•Demonstrating a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
•Various other duties related to operations and maintenance of the water distribution system as assigned.
What’s required to be successful
•High school diploma, GED or equivalent level of secondary education
•A minimum of 1 year of previous labour and/or maintenance experience in an industrial environment.

Preference given to labour experience on water distribution systems.
Possession of Alberta Environment Level 1 Certification in Water Distribution would be considered an asset*.
•Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's License
+ Limited to 6 demerits or less at date of hire
+ A Driver Abstract (5yr. Commercial type) will be required.
+ Drivers with a GDL class will not be considered
+ Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver's permit.
•Capability to meet the physical demands of the position including:
+ Clearance on drug and alcohol testing
+ Clearance on a pre-hire medical assessment
+ Lifting/carrying weights up to 22 kg (50 lbs) on a daily basis
+ Working outdoors in all weather conditions
+ Must be able and willing to wear all Personal Protective Equipment.
•Security Background Clearance (criminal check) and professional (work related) reference check will be required.
•Proven track record of positive performance, attendance, and punctuality

Starting Wage: $27.51 per hour
Final wage placement will be determined at the time of selection*
Hours of work: 10 hours per day, 4 days per week. Some successful candidates may participate in a rotating shift schedule (day and night) which is subject to compressed hours and the "Alternate Hours of Work Addendum" as per the current CUPE 30 Collective Agreement.
The selected candidates may be required to work overtime and perform job duties at work locations both within and outside the boundaries of the City of Edmonton.
