Laborer (Millwright, Steel Fabrication Consider an Asset)

Mariner Forge Enterprises established in 1990 is a custom Fabrication shop that’s been serving the Halifax Regional Municipal area for over 25 years. We provide a wide range of services such as water jet cutting, plasma profile cutting, fabrication, welding and machining of all metals. We have built our reputation by providing high-end attention to detail with an emphasis on communication, consistency and quality.

Position Overview:

We are currently looking for a Laborer that has experience with sheet metal fabrication/Millwright for our Pratt & Whitney location.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Plant maintenance as needed by Pratt & Whitney

- Installation of fabricated components

- Lay out, measure and mark dimensions and reference lines on sheet metal according to drawings or templates

- Fabrication of mild steel, stainless steel and aluminum components

- Operate machine and hand tools such as brake press, shears, band saws, grinder, drill or punch, torches, plasma cutters, measure tools and gauges

- Grind, sand, polish and detail fabrications to required finish

- Ensure that safety policies, housekeeping rules and guidelines, quality standards, and standard operating procedures are followed

Qualifications and Skills

- Technical diploma in Sheet Metal fabrication or Millwright would be an asset

- Punctuality & excellent attendance is necessary

- Ability to take job from start to finish

- Quality workmanship

- High attention to detail

- Ability to read and interpret blueprints/drawings would be an asset

- Knowledge of health and safety procedures

- Be a team player, working effectively with peers, sub-contractor and customers

- Work independently with minimal supervision

- Good organization and communication skills – both written and oral

- Ability to problem solve

- Ability to track your time and materials on jobs & fill out forms accurately

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

- Ability to lift 20-50 lbs frequently

- Continuous standing

- Bending, twisting and reaching

- Repetitive movement

- Frequent walking

- Wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, ear protection, safety shoes, gloves and any other protective equipment deemed necessary

- Work indoors in non-controlled environmental conditions

- Exposure to sounds and noise levels that can be distracting or uncomfortable

- Exposure to minor cuts or burns

- Exposure to contaminants

- Exposure to hazardous equipment

- Overtime may be required
