Superior Completion Services is currently seeking a Lab Technician for our Completion Tools Research, Design, New Product Development, and Sustaining Engineering Group in Houston, TX to support the qualification testing of our downhole completion tool product lines (including packers, sand control, fluid loss valves, interval control valves, barrier valves, locks, nipples and/or safety valves).
SUMMARY
Daily activities for this position include assisting the Designers and Design Engineers with assembling prototype completion tools for testing, assembling and maintaining test fixtures and lab equipment, performing various qualification tests, primarily consisting of hydraulic and nitrogen pressure testing and tool manipulation. The position is also responsible for the routine maintenance of test lab equipment, prototype inventory, and the general upkeep of the test lab.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
•Attend all safety meetings & participate in the writing of Job Safety Analysis.
•Follow all Health, Safety & Environmental practices, and always ensure a safe working environment.
•Assembly of prototype equipment as directed by the Engineers, Test Lab personnel, and engineering drawings.
•After sufficient training can conduct high-pressure hydrostatic & nitrogen testing.
•After sufficient training initiate can maintain Data Acquisition test information on the PC.
•Maintain prototype and test fixture inventory.
•Conduct high-pressure hydrostatic and nitrogen testing.
•Maintain Data Acquisition test information for testing performed.
•Maintain lab equipment in good working order, including performing preventative maintenance on equipment.
•Interface with Design Engineering and the Supervisor Test Lab to plan and organize tests and projects.
•Become familiar with the core product line.
•Attend all safety meetings.
•Participate in the writing of the Job Safety Analysis.
•Maintain a neat work area.
•Occasionally work night shifts and weekends.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
•Experience in the assembly and testing of downhole oil & gas.
•Completion Tool / Packer experience is a plus.
•High-pressure pipe fitting experience is helpful.
•Nitrogen testing and Data Acquisition experience is a plus.
EDUCATION
•High School diploma or equivalent.
•A minimum of three years’ experience in assembly and/or testing of oil and gas tools, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
•Advanced mechanical aptitude.
•Fully proficient in forklift, crane, and rigging operations.
•Fully proficient in the assembly of downhole oil and gas tools.
•Proficient in hydrostatic testing.
•Current practices, equipment, materials, and supplies used in the completion tools business.
•Proficient in MS Office, general computer use, and data acquisition systems.
•Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
•Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
