A natural gas trading organization is seeking a high-impact
Senior HR Business Partner
to support key commercial and operational teams. This role functions as a strategic advisor, translating business priorities into people solutions that support trading performance, workforce agility, and cultural cohesion. The ideal candidate will bring strong commercial acumen, deep HR expertise, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:•Partner closely with trading, scheduling, analytics, and commercial operations leadership to align people strategies with business performance goals
•Provide trusted, practical counsel on leadership development, team dynamics, talent retention, and organizational change
•Build deep understanding of front, mid, and back office functions to anticipate talent needs and provide targeted HR support
•Lead HR components of organizational shifts such as new product lines, M&A activity, or realignment of commercial functions
•Champion a high-performance culture by embedding core values into talent programs, coaching, and performance processes
•Drive cyclical HR processes such as compensation strategy, merit planning, succession planning, and headcount forecasting
•Use workforce analytics to identify trends and recommend actionable insights that enhance productivity and employee engagement
•Support the growth of trading talent through onboarding programs, career pathing, and leadership development initiatives
•Advise managers on sensitive issues including employee relations, regulatory compliance, and disciplinary actions
•Collaborate across the HR function (compensation, talent acquisition, HRIS) to deliver seamless support to client groups
•Contribute to cross-functional projects with business impact and act as a thought partner on organizational design initiatives
Preferred Experience and Skills:
•Strong understanding of energy trading environments, with experience supporting trading, origination, marketing, risk, scheduling, and gathering teams.
•Demonstrated ability to influence trading leaders and adapt HR approaches in high-pressure, performance-oriented settings
•Proven experience in the areas of onboarding, succession planning, compensation and driving growth through strategic projects
•Proven leadership to help navigate a phase of rapid organizational growth.
•Advanced communication skills and ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics
•Strategic thinker with solid execution skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities with discretion and urgency
•Skilled in interpreting employment law and applying it practically within a regulated business environment
•Proficient in using HR metrics and tools to guide decisions and demonstrate impact
•Ability to coach across all levels, from early-career professionals to senior leadership
•Familiarity with enterprise systems (e.g., Workday, SAP) and trading-related HR structures is a plus (HRIS: SuccessFactors)
Qualifications:
Required:
•8–12+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably with direct support to trading or commercial operations
•High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
•Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field
•HR certifications such as SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR
