STLLR Gold is a dynamic mineral exploration company focused on discovery and developing the Tower Gold Project and Hollinger Tailings Project in the Timmins area. We are currently seeking a motivated and skilled Geotechnician to join our exploration team. The successful candidate will support field programs, core processing and contribute to the successful execution of our ongoing exploration projects.
The position will report to the Exploration Manager and will support a collaborative and multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will have strong background in exploration programs, field operations, core processing and a focus on safety.
Responsibilities
-Safety & Collaboration
•Participate in health and safety initiatives, daily and monthly meetings and required reporting.
•Ensure all health and safety protocols are followed at all times.
•Work safely in remote field locations under varying weather and terrain conditions.
•Collaborate with the STLLR team and contractors to ensure that the programs and project are properly planned, executed and documented in order to be on time and on budget.
-Field and Core Shack
•Field work includes but is not limited to GPS work, flagging access, supervising contractors, spotting drillholes, drill site inspections, site closure, remediation and assisting geologists with sampling (rock, soil, till, etc.),
•Maintain and organize field equipment and supplies.
•Perform data entry and sample tracking using GPS and GIS tools.
•Intake and processing of drill core and field samples. This includes but is not limited to moving core and samples, marking and measuring drill core, labeling, orientation, measuring recovery/ RQD, recording magnetic susceptibility taking bulk density measurements, and sampling. Core cutting is not a common part of daily activities but may be required temporarily. o
•Data input and maintain active data management.
•Collecting samples for third party pulp checks, as well as maintaining core, pulp and reject inventories.
•Follow and maintain required QA/QC procedures to best industry practices.
•Onsite coordination with vendors to ensure deliverables are on time and within budget.
Prerequisites
-Education and Experience
•A diploma in geotechnical studies or comparable, or sufficient relevant work experience.
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience in mineral exploration with at least 2 years working in a core shack.
•Valid G class license or equivalent.
•Comfortable working in remote field setting with field schedules.
•Physically fit and able to hike rugged terrain while carrying gear.
•Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Familiarity with GPS, compass, field maps, and related software.
•Valid driver’s license and ability to operate 4x4 vehicles or ATVs.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office including word and excel.
