Job Purpose
The Entry Operator shall operate in the functions with supplying mill with slit coil material for the continuous operation of the mill in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Duties & Responsibilities
•Entry Operator must report to immediate supervisor for briefing on daily tasks.
•Entry Operator to check slit coils for correct heat and slit numbers in accordance to the correct order of the run sheet.
•Entry Operator to inspect the condition of slit and document findings in ERP system.
•Operators should communicate any quality issues with slit condition to mill operator.
•Check that all machinery is properly serviced before starting up.
•Assists in repair and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
•Communicate with crew to achieve a quality product.
•Assist in changeovers and Mill stops.
•Communicating to Lead or Supervisor any problems with material or equipment.
•Must maintain good housekeeping ethics. Work areas must be free and clear of debris.
•Assist in the verification and recording of production and findings in the ERP System and/or required documents.
Qualifications / Competencies
o A High School diploma or GED preferred but not required.
o 1year pipe mill experience preferred.
o Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
o Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and handheld technical devices.
o Knowledge of the manufacturing processes and procedures is a plus.
o Ability to lift to 30 pounds required.
o Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule, which may require overtime.
o Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and Overhead Crane operation.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Excellent computer skills
o Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
•Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
•Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, work boots, and hardhats.
•The work involves lifting materials and product up to 30 pounds.
•The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
•Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
•The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
•The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
•The ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
