JOB TITLE: ENGINEER – LINE OPERATIONS
LOCATION: HAMPDEN OPERATIONS CENTER
REPORTS TO: SUPERVISOR, T&D CONSTRUCTION PLANNING
POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT, NON- BARGAINING UNIT

POSITION OVERVIEW:Under the general direction of the Supervisor, T&D Construction Planning, this position encompasses engineering duties for Line Operations transmission and distribution. Work closely within the Line Operations Department as well as other internal Engineering Teams. This will involve project screening, system impact studies, and project estimating.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
•Review documents for completeness and updated documents for changes.
•Utilize CYME and GIS software for project screening.
•Work with various consulting firms to initiate and review project studies.
•Preliminary Engineering design and creation of project estimates that are formulated based on the study results.
•Review project estimates and scope documents.
•Maintain project documents throughout the study process.
•Develop short term capital projects for reliability improvement. This will include project development, scope, justification, and priority setting.
•Work with the Line Operations group on overall capital prioritization of each year’s plan.
•Promotes company safety culture through coaching, development, influence, and training.
•Maintains basic knowledge of the Company's electrical standards.
•Maintains basic knowledge of the Company’s distribution system.
•Maintains basic knowledge of the Company’s transmission system.
•Works in accordance with established safety rules and working procedures specific to all meter-related duties and responsibilities.
•Works collaboratively with the Line Operations, AMI Operations, Planning, PST, Asset Management, and Transmission Dev.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other related duties as assigned include designated duties associated with System Restoration.
REQUIRED OR PREFERRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
•Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, is required.
•A minimum of 1-5 years of work experience in an electric utility is required.
•Capable of communicating effectively both orally and in writing and with all levels of employees.
•Strong skills in project management, coordination, organization, and facilitation required.
•Ability to write reports, business correspondence, training materials and policy and procedures.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, GIS, AutoCAD, Cape, Cyme, PLSC, with ability to acquire additional computer software skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment required.
•Ability to work independently required.
•Experience working with a unionized workforce preferred.
•Valid Maine driver’s license required.

RATE OF PAY:
Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
HOURS:
Usual work hours are 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Working between 40-50 hours is expected
