About the role
As the DOT Compliance Director at Grid Source, you will be responsible for enforcing a compliant-driven culture by establishing compliance procedures for DOT, FMCSA, IFTA and other local and state requirements. Other responsibilities include compliance monitoring of (ELD’s) electronic driver logs, (VIDR) vehicle inspection and maintenance reporting. Administrative duties include tracking of employee training and certifications, assistance with onboarding new employees, driver qualification file completion, maintenance of EHS and other third-party safety compliance portals. Performance and behavior during all activities must be compliant with Grid Source values. This role reports directly to the EVP, West Operations.
What you’ll do:

•DOT Compliance Director is responsible for ensuring that all company operations, including drivers and vehicles, comply with DOT regulation
•Develop DOT-related training programs and manage where appropriate to maintain compliance
•Work with Corporate and local management on accident/incident investigations and reports of employee injuries and vehicular incidents
•Manage and/or source third-party vendor that maintains all printed and electronic driver qualification files, medical files, and compliance files in a secure and confidential manner
•Conduct periodic self-auditing of all DOT driver qualification files and records to ensure compliance
•Manage driver safety performance and DOT drug/alcohol history verification process
•Involved in Trucking Associations and keeping management informed of new regulations
•Evaluate, change, update safety orientation component of driver intake process. Participate in safety training of drivers whenever possible.
•Coordinate with the Director of HSE to ensure pragmatic, preventative safety measures are in place to mitigate distracted driving and dangerous behavior.
•Monitor driver monitoring systems and alert direct supervision immediately if driver exceeds maximum standards set.
•Quarterly self-assess all compliance programs and unsure readiness for audits
What you’ll need:
•Excellent interpersonal and leadership qualities
•Ability to work effectively with a wide range of management levels and disciplines
•Effective oral communication, written communication, and organizational skills
•Good computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
•Knowledge of Geotab software and other tracking systems
•DOT/HAZMAT regulatory requirements
•CFR49 and FMSCA familiarity
•Smith Driver Trainer Certification (preferred)
•Experience managing large fleets
Supervisory Responsibility
Will supervise during instructional training of field & office personnel if required.
Work Environment
The performance of this position will require exposure to customer jobsites and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, fire retardant clothing, hard hat, steel toed boots.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Hours of work may vary based on operational needs.
Travel
The Leander, Tx office will be the primary base of operation. Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel to other operating locations.
Required Education and Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred
•4 years HAZMAT/DOT management experience, with 5-10 years preferred
Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
State and Federal licenses and/or permits as required.
